By of the Journal Sentinel Madison— The state Supreme Court is considering a case that could overturn a 19-year-old ruling that guaranteed the state schools superintendent has broad authority over public education. Overturning that ruling would be a blow to Schools Superintendent Tony Evers and could strengthen the hand of Gov. Scott Walker and lawmakers in deciding how schools are run. Walker is a Republican and Evers is aligned with Democrats, though his post is officially nonpartisan.
