The proponents of the Streetcar system in downtown Milwaukee seem to summarize their position this way: The new Streetcar system could enhance downtown Milwaukee and make the city more attractive to businesses and young workers. Similar rail systems are operating in other cities and have helped bring new development to places such as Portland. That could happen here, too, if the system is given the go-ahead to expand beyond its initial stage. I personally love mass transit that works. Having lived in in Paris, London and New York it is totally clear to me the value of convenient, well run mass transit.
