By of the Journal Sentinel The two derailments in Wisconsin of petroleum-filled trains in the past week are the most recent of 14 major rail incidents across the U.S. involving crude oil or ethanol in the past two years, according to federal authorities. The incidents in Watertown on Sunday and in Alma along the Mississippi River on Nov. 7 are the latest in a growing tide of rail mishaps involving crude oil or ethanol.
